Savour the night view of cherry blossoms in full bloom in Shiogama City – towards Shiogama Shrine on Ichimoriyama hill and the with the cherry trees around the museum, enjoyed best with Japanese traditional confectioneries!

You are invited to learn about Jun Sugimura’s works from our museum staffs who will be dressed in kimono for this special occasion.

We offer three kinds of confectioneries that you can purchase and enjoy at the museum salon or take home as a souvenir.

*At the special exhibition room, you can enjoy ink wash (sumi-e) paintings by students of the museum’s regular lesson “First Ink Wash Painting”. The exhibition is held from April 6th through April 21st (closed on Monday), from 10:00 until 17:00 (until 15:00 on April 21st) without admission.

Japanese Traditional Confectionery Workshop: Making Cherry Blossom-shaped “Nerikiri”

At this workshop, you can make a Japanese traditional confectionery called Nerikiri made from sweetened white kidney bean paste (Shiro-An) and soft rice dough (Gyuhi).

Price: 1500 yen (Fee includes admission to the permanent collection and a confectionery item to take home as a souvenir.)

Pop Up Shop: ”Buen Mosto” Wine Bar

Enjoy this spring evening with art, wine and cocktails at the museum!

For one night on Friday April 19th, our museum will be open until 19:30. A pop-up wine bar organized by Chilean wine importer Buen Mosto (http://buen-mosto.com/) will appear on the 1st floor.
