We thank you for your continued support and patronage of the Shiogama Sugimura Jun Museum of Art.

For the remaining months of 2025 and into early 2026, we will be conducting a series of construction work involving the seismic retrofitting of our buildings for earthquake resistance. Visitors may experience noise as well as the presence of construction vehicles around the museum grounds.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be assured that the safety of our visitors is our top priority during this period. Your understanding and cooperation is appreciated.

Please note the following locations and periods listed below: 

Construction Period: 
– Friday, 1 August 2025 – January 2026 (Tentative)
– Please note that this schedule may change and finish by an earlier date.

Closed Locations (Off limits during construction):
– All of the Museum Exhibition Rooms: Permanent, Special Exhibition: Shimin Gallery (2F)
– The Salon (Museum Lounge) (2F)

Accessible Locations (Open during construction): 
– Museum Shop (2F): Closed on Mondays or the following day (Tuesday) if the public holiday falls on a Monday.
– Cafe Danwashitsu: Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Open on all other days (Wednesday to Sunday) from 11:00 – 17:00. Last Order is at 16:30.

Regarding the Grand Auditorium (Daikodo)
– The Grand Auditorium will continue to be available for use. However, some wall sections and its surrounding areas may be inaccessible. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience. 

Community Center Rooms (Shiogama Kominkan Motomachi Bunshitsu): 
– The rooms (Study Rooms 1, 2, and 3, and the Nihonma Japanese-style room) remain accessible. Please contact us during office hours for the latest availability.
