Tsutsumi doll painting workshop

The Tsutsumi doll is a Japanese traditional doll made out of clay. Sugimura often used it as a motif in his paintings, where a doll of the Chinese zodiac dog can be found in many of his works.
Associated with the animal symbolizing the next Eastern zodiac year of 2018, learn and experience how to paint on a dog tsutsumi doll in this workshop. Taught by active tsutsumi doll maker and artist Akihiko Sato.

Date: Saturday November 25th, 2017
Hours: 10:30 – 12:00
Location: lecture room of Sugimura Jun Museum of Art (Shiogama City), 30 minutes east of Sendai.
Entrance fee: Admission is free, but a reservation is required to join the workshop.

Please note:
・Seats are limited, with a maximum capacity of 15 participants.
・Recommended for participants ages 11 and above.
・It is advised that children from pre-school up to the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult, and must make a doll together with them.
