本プログラム11回目の今回は、公募により選考された版画家・あるがあく、アーティスト・松田ハルをご紹介します。

　あるがあくは、主に木版画の制作を通して、目に見えない「揺れ動く感情」を視覚化し表現することを試みています。木版画は図柄を版に彫り起こし、紙に摺り取るなどの工程を経て制作します。それらを繰り返して生みだす版の重なり、かすれやにじみなど木版画特有の性質とシルクスクリーンを組み合わせることで、人の複雑な感情を表現しています。近年取り組むシリーズ「木漏れ日蒐集」では、木漏れ日の一瞬のきらめきや光と影をとらえながら、木漏れ日の揺らめきに人の感情の揺れ動きを重ねあわせています。
　祭り行事や市民活動が盛んな塩竈の地は、多賀城市出身のあるがにとって人々の喜怒哀楽さまざまな感情に触れることができる地であると言います。特に鹽竈神社は、人々の思いが繰り返し向けられる場であり、人生の過程において人々が思いをこめて集い、感情の揺らぎが集まる場所と言えます。今回あるがは、人生の転機に抱いた祈りや願いなど多様な感情が集まる神社でも木漏れ日を採取し、新作を制作しています。幾重にも重なる木漏れ日の揺らめきに感情を投影しながら、私たちの日々のさまざまな感情を肯定するひとときとなれば幸いです。

Returning for its 11th year, the Shiogama Sugimura Jun Museum of Art presents Voyage, our annual program dedicated to supporting upcoming contemporary artists with connections to Japan’s Tohoku region. For 2026, Voyage is delighted to showcase two unique selected artists: woodblock printmaker ARUGA Aku and artist MATSUDA Hal.
Primarily through the medium of woodblock printing, ARUGA Aku seeks to visualize and express the invisible feelings we experience. The creation of a woodblock print involves a meticulous process of carving designs into a wooden block and transferring them onto paper. By repeating this process and combining silk-screen techniques with the inherent qualities of woodblock printing—such as layered plates, dry-brush textures, and ink bleeding—she captures the complexity of the human emotion.
In this recent series, “Komorebi Shushu: Gathering dappled sunlight”, she captures the Komorebi in her works. A concept native to Japan, the Komorebi is the fleeting brilliance where the shadows of sunlight filters through trees. With the vivid colors and contrasting hues of greens and blues that come alive with it, the Komorebi layers the shimmering movement of light with the subtle fluctuations of our feelings.
For this artist, who was born and raised in the neighboring city of Tagajo in Miyagi Prefecture, Shiogama—a coastal city vibrant with traditional festivals and community activities—is a place where she can deeply encounter the full spectrum of human emotions: joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure. In particular, Shiogama Shrine is a sanctuary where people’s thoughts and prayers have been repeatedly directed across generations. It is a place where people gather at pivotal moments in their lives, making it a focal point for shifting human emotions.
For this exhibition, ARUGA has captured the dappled sunlight seen at the shrine grounds, where diverse emotions such as prayers and wishes at life’s turning points converge, to create her latest pieces. By projecting our own feelings onto these layered, shimmering patterns of light, we hope this exhibition offers a moment to embrace and validate the diverse emotions of our daily lives.

若手アーティスト支援プログラム「Voyage」は、これからの活躍が期待される若手アーティストの可能性に光をあて、新たなステップを提供することを目的に、展覧会を中心としてトークやワークショップなど多様な表現の機会を設ける事業です。これまで、多くの人々にとって新たな才能や感性と出会える場となるよう毎年度ごとに異なる作家と共に取り組んできました。展示制作にかかる費用の一部のほか、企画や広報などに関する支援を通して、地元にゆかりのある若手アーティストの意欲的な表現活動をサポートし、発表の場を提供します。今年度の特別審査員は、小田原のどか氏（彫刻家・評論家・出版社代表）、鹿野 護氏（デザイナー・東北芸術工科大学教授）、服部浩之氏（キュレーター・国際芸術センター青森館長）です。

あるがあく（ARUGA Aku）
版画家。1987年宮城県多賀城市出身、在住。2011年東北芸術工科大学芸術学部美術科洋画コース版画専攻卒業。木版画やシルクスクリーンなどの版画技法を用いて、揺れ動く感情を表現する。日常に起こる内面の変化と、それらを抱えながら生きる人々に注目し、日々の営みの肯定を試みる。2016年より仙台美術研究所版画講座講師。2022年より多賀城市にて版画工房ギャラリー「在るprint studio」を主宰。美術鑑賞と創作の場を提供している。
Printmaker. Born in 1987 in Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture, JAPAN, where she is currently based.
She graduated from Tohoku University of Art and Design in 2011, majoring in the Printmaking Program within the Western Painting section of the Department of Fine Arts. Utilizing printmaking techniques such as woodblock and silk-screen, Aruga expresses the fluid nature of the human emotion. Her work focuses on the internal changes that occur in daily life and the people who live through them, seeking to validate and embrace our everyday existence. She has been an instructor for the printmaking course at the Sendai Art Institute since 2016. In 2022, she established “aru print studio,” a printmaking workshop and gallery in Tagajo City, where she provides a space for art appreciation and creation.

小田原のどか（彫刻家・評論家・出版社代表）

これまでにも本公募に応募があり、作品やプランが記憶に残っていたが、今回の審査会で持参していた新作の屛風作品に目を見張った。木漏れ日や景色に寄せてきた関心や技法を研ぎ澄ましつつ、展示方法を大きく展開させ、屛風という持ち運びができる形式をとったことで、作品としての強度が格段に増したと感じた。ポートフォリオで拝見した過去作と比べても、版画技法が洗練され、近年、作品の魅力が増したように思われる。これまで塩竈の地で展開してきたプロジェクトも、ほかの場所では実現できない、杉村惇美術館ならではの関連行事として存分に生かせるだろうと納得するものであった。塩竈に軸足を置いた活動とたゆまぬ制作への努力を高く評価した。

塩竈に暮らし、工房やカフェを拠点に地域と関わり続けてきた姿勢は、作品にも自然に表れている。街の地面や壁、木漏れ日といった日常の光を作品化する行為は、そこに流れる時間や記憶、感情といった形のないものを平面へと定着させる試みといえる。木版画やシルクスクリーンという複製性をもつ技法でありながら、画面には一枚ごとに異なる表情があり、同じように繰り返される日々が、決して同じではないことを静かに示している。何気ない日常そのものが、かけがえのないものであることを感じさせてくれるかのような表現。今回の個展で用いられる屏風形式の展示は、こうした作品の内側へと鑑賞者を導く装置となるだろう。奥行きのある空間を歩きながら、作者の眼差しを追体験することになるはずだ。

服部浩之（キュレーター・国際芸術センター青森館長）

この土地に根を張って暮らし、そのなかで表現を紡いでいくことへの強い意思が感じられた。選考時に見た木漏れ日を元にした屏風型版画は、繊細で力強く、美しい。地域に寄り添う作品制作ではその土地の特別な物事に目が向かいがちだが、あるがは当たり前にどこにでもあるものを淡々と捉える。どこにでもあるとはいえ、木漏れ日をうむ木々や陽の光は私たちの生を支える不可欠で普遍的な存在だ。身の回りのいつでも触れられるものを対象とした創造活動は、どんな環境下であっても生を豊かにする表現行為が可能であることを示し、人々を励ましてくれるだろう。ここで暮らすあるがによる木漏れ日の作品群は、今美術館という場において多くの人が出会うべきものであると確信している。
